Meet the children and adults assisted by the
Benjamin Foundation and read their stories of hope.

Jose Matias-Pascual
Trenton, GA

Jose is a 6-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy. Jose had great success with the POA TN exclusive braces as opposed to traditional thermoplastic braces.

He has now outgrown his previous pair. Because of the family’s limited insurance
and financial resources,
the Benjamin Foundation is glad to provide the new orthotics Jose needs.

Sydney Klepper
Murfreesboro, TN

Eighteen-year-old Sydney has been a leg amputee since the age of two. She came to POA to help get a good fitting prosthetic. Sydney just started college in Minnesota.

In preparation, she needed extra prosthetic supplies so she would not have to worry while she was far away from home. We are happy to help Sydney with those supplies that insurance would not cover. We wish Sydney well as she begins this new chapter in her life!

AnaRose McLean
Powell, TN

AnaRose was born at 23 weeks weighing 1 lb. 8oz and addicted to cocaine.

Doctors said she wouldn’t make it. Her adoptive mother says she’s a little fighter and today at age nine she just wants to
be a normal kid. One of AnaRose’s medical challenges is a
soft chest deformity. With early intervention this
should be very correctible, however the chest brace
needed is not covered by insurance.

The Benjamin Foundation is happy to step in and
provide this for AnaRose!

Leandro Gonzalez
Dalton, GA

Toto is a 10-year-old boy with contracture and pronation instability. This cause him to walk only on his toes.
As a primarily Spanish speaking family, his mother
has had difficulty finding a provider who could
communicate well with them until they arrived at POA.

Unfortunately, POA is not in network with their insurance
and the family has limited financial resources. The Benjamin Foundation is excited to provide Toto with bilateral ankle foot orthosis so he can play soccer and run around with his friends.

Tonita Duncan
Harrison, TN

Toni is a below-the-knee amputee. Despite working
and having health insurance, she discovered that
her benefits did not include coverage for a prosthesis.
The burden of paying for prosthetics out of pocket would
put her family into financial hardship.

We are happy to provide Toni with the prosthetic she needed.
Her restored mobility will allow her to do one of the things she loves the most – playing with her grandchildren!

Tyler Jones
Lebanon, TN

Tyler was diagnosed with cancer at a young age.
After months of treatment, the tumor in his leg
continued to grow. The decision was made to amputate
below the knee. Today, Tyler is an active young man
and is a competitive sprinter
and recreational rock climber.

Recently, he started issues with his residual limb.
Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates of Tennessee was
able to fit him with a new socket so he could continue
to be active and focus on school. The Benjamin Foundation is thankful we could help provide Tyler with the replacement socket he needed.
